— The Route —
The race starts and finishes at the Bennachie Visitor Centre. On race day, registration will open from 6.30am and the race will start at 8am. The route will mainly be on a mixture of trails. There's a few technical bits, but mainly all good runnable terrain.
After taking the anti-clockwise route from the Centre round the back of the hill and all the way round the West side down to My Lord Throats Road, which will then be the only public road part of the run. It's only 3 miles though, and is a beautiful meander alongside the River Don to the 1st main checkpoint at the Don View Car park.
After a bit of refueling, you'll begin the first of the major climbs up Millstone Hill. At the peak of Millstone, you'll get a glorious view of MitherTap before heading back down through some glorious forest trails.
The next section is on forestry paths, which will lead you all the way up onto the Gordon Way. Once up to the Gordon Way, you'll head west for a bit before heading up to the main peaks of the hill. You'll hit Hermit Seat, Oxen Craig, Little Oxen, Craigshannoch and MitherTap before heading back towards Oxen Craig and the final descent back down the Gordon Way to the finish at the Centre.
